Not sure if that's what you were referring to, but these kind of questions are all covered in the 400 question guide. And of course, pen and paper calculations along the lines of "Given the following numbers, what would the equity value at exit be?".What are the components of a DCF valuation?.How would you approach a valuation of XY company?.What circularities would you encounter in an LBO model?.What can happen is that you'll be asked about modeling or related questions, e.g. Maybe other small boutiques would also give you one - I have never heard of it, but there are many of them and their recruiting process is not standardized, so who knows. I did not include that because it's more niche than what 99.9% of folks here aim for. Bankers may not test your Excel skills directly, but they’ll always ask how much you know about accounting, valuation, and financial modeling and Excel is a pre-requisite for all of those. During recruiting, I have had a single modeling prompt, which was for an off-campus position at a project finance team. Without deep knowledge of Excel, including the most important keyboard shortcuts and formulas, you won’t be able to do anything above. None of these banks/groups tested modeling skills. I recruited across the banking universe out of business school and had half a dozen super days - from GS TMT to MS to Evercore to smaller boutiques. Is something missing from this sidebar?
